You've probably heard of the famous churches in Rome including St. Peter and St. Paul's basilica "fuori dalle mura" but I am 100% sure you have never heard of the oldest Roman Church in Rome called "Santa Maria in Trastevere".

Santa Maria in Trastevere is certainly a hidden jewel in the heart of Trastevere: its construction began during the period of Hadrian I, having its final construction under Pope Innocenzo II (1130).
It is absolutely worth taking a few moments to visit this incredible ancient church.

The suggestion is to find an Airbnb in Trastevere and wander around for a day exploring authentic Roman history. This is the link to one of the best Holiday Home in Rome "The Heart of Trastevere"
Just 5 minutes walk from this incredible church in Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere there are some other wonderful places (especially if you like visiting breathtaking churches and real Roman streets).
Amazing botanical gardens, restaurants, bars and local pubs to enjoy the real roman life.
Another incredible church just a 2 minutes walk from Santa Maria in Trastevere is The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Scala - stunning use of the chandeliers inside.
